Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a breakthrough in orthodontic care that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth. It lets you have the smile you’ve always wanted, but without the hassle or discomfort of traditional metal braces.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign works by using a custom-made clear aligner that places gentle force on your teeth, moving them into a straighter position. Your treatment involves changing your aligners about every two weeks, which methodically moves your teeth into the desired position.

And, unlike braces, you can remove your clear aligners while you eat and brush your teeth, which means you don’t need to make changes to your diet, and you can easily maintain good oral health while undergoing Invisalign treatment.

They’re also comfortable and nearly invisible, so no one will even know you’re wearing them. And because the aligners fit snugly on your teeth, you can continue your active lifestyle.

How long does Invisalign take?

Although treatment time varies from person-to-person, you may be able to get your new smile in about a year with Invisalign and usually no longer than 18 months.

To ensure the fastest results, Dr. Shiri recommends you wear your aligners 20-22 hours a day. By comparison, it can take up to three years for traditional braces to transform your smile

During your Invisalign treatment, Dr. Shiri has you come to the office every six to eight weeks for adjustments and to check on your progress.

He also provides you with your new set of custom aligners to continue the straightening process. The total number of aligners you need is determined by Dr. Shiri.

Am I a good candidate for Invisalign?

Dr. Shiri determines if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign during a consultation. But the revolutionary system has the ability to transform many smile concerns. Invisalign successfully treats:

  • Gapped teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Open bite
  • Cross bite
  • Overly crowded teeth

Whether your misalignment is mild or severe, Invisalign may be the treatment for you. Invisalign can even fix the shifting that often occurs in people who’ve formerly had conventional braces.
